It's the grand finale of MLS Cup 2024! In the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Galaxy made their status known. After finishing in 2nd place at the end of the regular season, the Californian franchise never really wavered in the playoffs. Due to the early exit of Los Angeles FC, Greg Vanney's team had home advantage throughout the playoffs. In their opener, they needed just 2 games to overcome Colorado Rapids, before going on to beat Minnesota United (6-2) and Seattle Sounders (1-0). Marco Reus' teammates will once again be playing at home, at Dignity Health Sports Park, for this grand final.
They take on RB New York this Saturday at 4:00 pm EST. In the Eastern Conference, Sandro Schwarz's men were certainly not expected to reach the final match of the season. They had only finished 7th in the regular season. However, RB New York had one playoff success after another. In the 1st round, they beat defending champions Columbus Crew in just 2 games. Subsequently, Emil Forsberg's team-mates knocked out New York City (0-2) and Orlando City (0-1). The Los Angeles Galaxy have been warned. They will have to pull out all the stops if they are to assume their favorite's status and go in search of a 6th title.

Los Angeles Galaxy - New York Red Bulls: Form Analysis
For the Galaxy the road to MLS Cup Final was a relatively simple one. They battered both the Colorado Rapids and the Loons, winning in high-scoring fashion in front of home crowds, before showing that they can win in less emphatic fashion when working hard to edge ahead against a very disciplined and tight Seattle Sounders side in the Western Conference Final.
For the Red Bulls, things have been much less epxlosive. They had to fight hard to edge beyond the Columbus Crew during the best-of-three round, before delivering something of a smash-and-grab win away to rivals NYCFC in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. A trip to face Orlando in the final Eastern Conference game followed, but they once again delivered a disciplined effort to win by the narrowest of margins. This will absolutely be their toughest test yet, though.
