The began things with winning 2 out of 3 games in Pittsburgh and then followed that up with winning 3 out of 4 games in Washington. Now they come back home for a brief 2-game set with the visiting Kansas City Royals (49-43). A team that has not had the same success in July. The Royals have lost 4 of their 6 games to this point but did just snap a 3-game losing streak on Sunday with a 10-1 win over the Colorado Rockies. This will be the 1st meeting between the squads this season. Former Cardinal and current Royal, Michael Wacha (5-6, 3.74) will get the start against his former team. He is coming off an impressive showing against the Rays in his last start. He went 6 innings and allowed just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 8. He will be countered by Andrew Pallante (4-3, 4.00) who also was strong in his last start. He faced the Pirates on the road and held them to just 1 run on 4 hits but did not factor into the decision.
