In a rematch of the 2024 Cincinnati Open two weeks ago, Jessica Pegula of the United States and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will square it off in the women’s singles finals of the 2024 US Open championships at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York. Pegula stormed back from a set down to beat Karolina Muchova 1-6 6-4 6-2 and book her first Grand Slam final appearance. Pegula broke Muchova twice in the deciding set. The first helped the American take a pivotal 2-0 lead and the second breakpoint conversion in the 8th game ultimately sealed the win for her. Meanwhile, Sabalenka’s tour of force continues with a 6-3 7-6(2) win over Emma Navarro in their semifinal match. Sabalenka, the Cincinnati Open champion, fired 8 aces and won 74 percent of her first serves to stave off Navarro’s upset bid. Sabalenka will get another chance to win the coveted US Open championship after coming up short last year against Coco Gauff.
