Jack Draper of Great Britain begins his quest for a back-to-back ATP 1000 title on Saturday when he faces Jakub Mensik of the Czech Republic in the second round of the 2025 Miami Open.
Draper hoisted his first ATP 1000 title this weekend after defeating Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2 in the championship match of the 2025 Indian Wells Open. The win punctuated a scintillating week for the Brit, who had only lost one set en route to the title. Draper defeated rising star Joao Fonseca, Jenson Brooksby Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz in a three-set shocker in the semis.
After a disappointing second round exit at Indian Wells, Mensik decided to test his skills at the Cap Cana Challenger, where he rattled off three wins before losing Damir Dzumhur 5-7 6-4 6-4 in the semis. Mensik also bested Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4 3-6 6-1 to set a date with the newly-minted Indian Wells Open champion.

Mensik is a feisty youngster from the Czech Republic, but I doubt he can match the intensity and superb shot-making that Draper has shown us in the past two weeks.
