Match for third place in this Olympic 2024 men's volleyball tournament! Who will win the bronze medal, Italy or the United States? This small final will take place on Friday at the South Paris Arena 1. Italy has fallen from grace. They were one of the overwhelming favorites for the title. However, they lost to France in the semi-finals, without taking a single set. Prior to that, the Italian team had been particularly solid. To finish top of Group B, they had beaten Brazil (3-1), Egypt (3-0) and Poland (1-3). In the quarter-finals, Italy came back from 2-0 down to defeat Japan. 

And now it's on to the United States. The USA finished top of Group C. In their opening match, they didn't give up a single set to Argentina. They then needed 5 sets to win against Germany and 4 sets to continue their flawless record against Japan. In the quarter-finals, the USA were very solid against Brazil, coming through in 4 sets. And they were not far behind in the semi-finals against Poland. They led 2 sets to 1, before falling to one of the tournament's big boys. They'll have to be content with the match for third place.
