Flavio Cobolli, Jasmine Paolini and the rest of Team Italy looks to sustain their unbeaten streak as they battle Tomas Machac, Karolina Muchova and the Czech Republic in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 United Cup on Thursday. Cobolli opened the 2025 ATP season on a resounding note, sweeping his first two singles matches in this tourney. Cobolli defeated Dominic Stricker of Switzerland 6-3 7-6(2) before outlasting Ugo Humbert of France in a three-set thriller, 3-6 7-6(8) 6-2. The same goes for Jasmine Paolini, who blasted Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 6-1, 6-1 and Chloe Paquet of France 6-0. 6-2. Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori have been marvelous in mixed-doubles event, going 2-0 after two rounds. Meanwhile, Machac has split his first two men’s singles matchup, falling to Casper Ruud of Norway 7-6(6) 5-7 6-4 before bouncing back with a three-set victory over Hubert Hurkacz of Poland 7-5 3-6 6-4. Karolina Muchova suffered the same fate as she also won her first match vs. Malene Helgo of Norway 6-2, 6-2 before bowing to Iga Swiatek of Poland 6-3, 6-4. Machac and Muchova are 1-1 in mixed doubles matches.

Our Italy vs Czechia Prediction
I like Italy’s chance of advancing to the semis of the United Cup. I feel Jasmine Paolini will have her breakthrough win over Muchova, and the same can be said for Cobolli against Tomas Machac. Machac has beaten Flavio Cobolli on two separate occasions. The most recent was a 7-6(3) 6-2 win at the 2022 Andrea Challenger. The 22-year-old Cobolli has become a more polished player since then and it appears he’s about to experience a breakout season this year if he continues his terrific form. Suppose we end up with a 1-1 tie after the singles competition. In that case, my money will be on the tandem of Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, who are more experienced and accomplished doubles players than the newly minted partnership of Muchova and Machac. Our betting prediction for Italy and the Czech Republic: Italy will win.
