After looking good in their first two games of the season, the Orlando Magic lost to the Grizzlies 111-124 in the third game of the season. In that last game, the Magic had little chance of making the game a close one as they went down by 26 points at halftime. Magic coach Jamahl Mosley made a self-criticism saying that the team needs to generate more turnovers. The Magic had been the third team that generated the most turnovers last season, but in this third game they were punished with their own medicine when they lost possession of the ball up to 19 times which the Grizzlies capitalized on for 30 points.

The Magic then returns to the Kia Center to face the Pacers who were also a playoff team last season and who in 3 games in the new season are 1-2. The Magic can't afford to give up too many turnovers against the Pacers either, as they averaged 17.7 points off opponents' turnovers in the 2023-2024 season.

Even with just 67.6% free throw shooting, the Pacers managed to get a 5-point lead at the end of the game with 93 seconds left, but they couldn't hold on to the lead against the 76ers and lost in overtime.
