Hurkacz, who is also the No.1 player from his home country Poland, eyes a deeper run at the Cincinnati Masters following a quarterfinal exit at the hands of eventual champion Alexei Popyrin of Australia 3-6 7-6(5) 7-5. Hurkacz fought gallantly through three gut-wrenching sets, but Popyrin’s 11 aces and 51 points on his first serves proved to be the difference maker in the match. Nishioka punched his way into the main draw of the Cincinnati Masters after blazing through the qualifiers. He defeated compatriot Taro Daniel 6-3 6-1 and Frenchman Arthur Cazaux 6-4 6-4 to secure his place in the main draw. In the first round, Nishioka faced and conquered Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4 7-5 to move onto the second round where he’ll face the No.5 seed in the tournament.
