Holger Rune of Denmark will battle Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain in the first round of the 2025 Acapulco Open. Rune has lost four of his last six matches since falling to eventual Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner 6-1 7-6(2) in the fourth round of that tournament. The Dutch competed at the Rotterdam and Argentina Open but wound up crashing out in the second round. Rune lost to Mariano Navone 6-1 7-6(2) at the Argentina Open and Pedro Martinez 6-4 6-1 at the Rotterdam Open. Carballes Baena has also dropped his last three matches. Like Rune, he also lost his last match to Mariano Navone 6-4 6-3 at the Rio Open. The Spaniard reached the third round of the Australian Open, where he succumbed to Tommy Paul of the United States 6-4 6-3.
