Two teams that pulled off some surprises in La Liga matchday 1 will face each other, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano.
Getafe finished 12th in last season's La Liga, but they ended the previous edition on a low and worrying note where they lost all of their last 5 games, also failing to score at least 1 goal in 4 of them.
Getafe rescued a point in the difficult San Mames against Athletic Bilbao, and did so with the merit of coming from behind, something that Athletic usually does not allow at home. In addition, at times they seemed to neutralize the home team, and Getafe finished with an xG of 1.07, even better than Athletic Bilbao's 0.72. Getafe, however, will not have an easy opponent against Rayo Vallecano, who they have not beaten since 2019.
Rayo Vallecano surprised Real Sociedad, they were better throughout the match but especially in the second half, where they were rewarded with two goals, the second capitalizing on a careless throw-in by their rivals.
The Vallecas team left a good first impression, De Frutos' first goal was excellent, and Camello, before being substituted, ran quite a bit and energetically until he got the second goal. The Ghanaian Mumin had a brilliant performance as a central defender against Real Sociedad.
