Jessica Pegula is in the same situation, having been knocked out of the tournament by Elina Svitolina in the second round. These doubles matches remain the only source of medals for the American doubles team. Muchova and Noskova, meanwhile, had to endure a tough qualifying campaign against Alexandrova and Vesnina. They conceded the first set 6-2, but responded quickly to take the 2nd set 7-6. The final set ended in a 10-6 thriller.
