There's a big match taking place at the Monte-Carlo Masters on Wednesday, which will take place quite early in the morning for most US viewers. Francisco Cerundolo and Carlos Alcaraz go head-to-head for the fourth time (competitively) in a clash between Argentina and Spain. The Argentine, who recently performed very well in Miami, beating some top players like Tommy Paul and Casper Ruud, looked good in the first round, adapting well to the rather slow clay courts that this tournament has to offer. Alcaraz is a top player, but Cerundolo knows how to tussle with the big boys, so don't be surprised if we see a confident approach taken by the man now ranked 22nd in the world. 

For the world number three, it's been a tricky few weeks. On a much quicker hard surface, Alcaraz beat Cerundolo in Indian Wells last month, but he's since dropped off a bit, losing to James Draper in the final of that event, before exiting the action in Miami at the first attempt, losing to the much lower-ranked David Goffin. This will now be his first competitive clay-court match of the season. The Spaniard has only played this tournament once before, losing at the first attempt to Sebastian Korda back in 2022. Will he do better this time around?
