Ben Shelton of the United States will take on Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina in the semifinal of the 2025 BMW Open.
Known in his entire career as a hard-court expert, the big-serving Shelton advanced to one of the most prestigious clay-court tournaments by showcasing a vastly improving game on the red dirt. In his victory over Luciano Darderi of Italy 6-4, 6-3, Shelton managed to hack out a win by holding almost all of his serves and capturing the crucial points of the match, including two huge breakpoints in the second set.
Cerundolo finally reached the final four after coming up short in the previous tournaments. The Argentine secured his entry into the final four with an exquisite win over David Goffin of Belgium 6-2, 6-4. He pulled off the victory by winning 22 points off the first serves and breaking serves five times.
