The men's tennis season heads to Monaco to kick off the first clay-court Masters 1000 of the season! In the first round, top 20 American Frances Tiafoe takes on Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic. 

Seeded number 14, Frances Tiafoe has just kicked off his clay-court season at the American tournament in Houston. And the American seems to have enjoyed his return to this surface, as he managed to string together no less than 3 consecutive wins, notably over Alex Michelsen and Brandon Nakashima, to reach the final of the tournament against his compatriot Jenson Brooksby. Also a first-round winner at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 on hard court and at the Miami Masters 1000, the American should arrive confident of putting his recent defeat in the Houston final behind him.

Miomir Kecmanovic, meanwhile, kicks off his clay-court season in Monaco. After winning his first round match in Miami against Aleksandar Kovacevic (79th in the world) last March, the Serb was stopped by top 10 player Casper Ruud. More generally on clay, the 25-year-old played just 12 matches in total on this surface last season, and his record was not very encouraging, with 6 wins against 6 losses.
