Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada will gun for a back-to-back semifinal stint on Thursday when he dukes it out with Marin Cilic of Croatia in the quarterfinal of the Dubai Tennis Championship. Auger-Aliassime withstand another upset bid after surviving Alexander Bublik 7-6(7) 6-7(4) 6-3 in the first round, edging Nuno Borges of Portugal 4-6 6-3 7-5 in the second round. Auger-Aliassime made a comeback from a set down by leaning on his service game that produced 52 points off the first serves and 12 points off the second. The Canadian also secured a key service break on the 11th game of the third set, setting him off for the finisher. For two days in a row, Cilic has scalped the head of an Australian as he outgunned Alexei Popyrin 5-7 6-3 6-4 in the second round. Cilic overcame 16 aces from Popyrin by trusting his serves, which generated 50 first-serve points and conceded just one service break. The former US Open champion also secured a clutch service break on the 5th game of the deciding set and held all his remaining serves to notch the win.
