Former French Open quarterfinalist Fabio Fognini will try to book his ticket to the third round as he takes on American Tommy Paul on Court No.14 at Roland Garros in Paris, France. Fognini barged into the second round with a clinical straight-set win over Netherlands’s Botic Van De Zandschulp, 6-1 6-1 7-5. The Italian won 59 percent of his first serve and 57 percent of the breakpoints to level his head-to-head matchup with the Dutch at 1-1. Tommy Paul also hacked out an easy straight-set win over Argentina’s Pedro Cachin 6-2 6-3 6-1. The No.14 seed fired four aces and won 78 percent of the first serves to dominate his first-round opponent. Fognini reached the quarterfinal of the French Open in 2011. Since then, the Italian hasn’t gone beyond the fourth round of the tournament. Paul, meanwhile, looks to advance into the third round for the first time in his career.
