Meanwhile, Elys comes out of nowhere to reach her first fourth-round stint in a Grand Slam tournament. The 23-year-old German secured a slot in the main draw after earning a lucky loser nod following 6-1 2-6 6-4 loss to Destanee Aiava in the final qualifier. Elys was a total wild card as she racked up three straight wins, including a 4-6 6-3 6-3 victory over Jaqueline Cirstea, to achieve a new career high since turning pro in 2022.
