Emma Raducanu of Great Britain lock horns with Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine in the second round of the 2025 Madrid Open.
Raducanu advance to the second round in Madrid with a 7-6(4) 6-4 win over Suzan Lamens of the Netherlands. Fresh off a quarterfinal run in Miami, Raducanu showed grace under pressure and incredible shot making to put away a tough challenge from her Dutch foe. Raducanu won 25 points off her first serves and broke Lamen’s serves four times.
Kostyuk reached the round of 16 in both tournaments of the Sunshine Doubles and will play her first clay court match this year after getting mixed results from her Billie Jean King Cup campaign with Ukraine two week ago. The top Ukrainian netter comes to Madrid with a solid 65.8 percent win rate on the red dirt.
