Emma Navarro will attempt to become the second American woman to advance to the round of 16 as she faces Ons Jabeur of Turker on Friday at the 2025 Australian Open. Navarro clinched a spot in the third round after surviving another three-set match with Xiyu Wang of China 6-3 3-6 6-4. Navarro had already survived a close battle with compatriot Peyton Stearns 6-7(5) 7-6(5) 7-5 in the first round. Still, her latest win over Wang tested her endurance and ability to come through under pressure. The No.8 ranked Navarro scored three of her seven breakpoints in the third set to stave off Wang’s upset bid and keep her title hope alive. Jabeur, meanwhile, recorded her second consecutive straight win, downing Maria Camila Osorio of Colombia 7-5 6-3. The Turk won 64 percent of her first serves and broke Osorio six times, which allowed her to pull away in the match. Jabeur is eyeing a return trip to the quarterfinal of the Australian Open after coming up short in the past four years.
