She never squandered a serve again from that point and even converted two crucial break points to clinch both the second set and the match. Jabeur earned her second consecutive straight set win on Wednesday, beating Wakana Sonobe of Japan 6-3 6-3. The Turk, who dispatched Jalena Ostapenko 7-6(4) 7-5 in the first round, overpowered her Japanese foe with a flurry of winners and potent counterattack that generated 42 return points. The former world’s No.2 improved her WTA 2025 season record to 5-2 after reaching the third round of the 2025 Australian Open.
