Two streaking giant-killers collide as Jalena Ostapenko battles Ekaterina Alexandrova for a spot in the 2025 WTA Stuttgart Open women’s singles final.
Ostapenko continued her mastery over Iga Swiatek on Saturday, raising her record against the Pole to 6-0 after carving out 6-3. 2-6, 6-2 win in the quarterfinal of the Stuttgart Open. In the battle of French Open champions, Ostapenko reigned supreme by overpowering Swiatek with her bludgeoning style of play. The Latvian garnered 28 points off her first serves and broke Swiatek six times in the match, including a pivotal break that gave her a 2-0 lead and a serve in the third set.
Meanwhile, Alexandrova has been flying under the radar in Stuttgart as she silently but effectively dispatched two top-10 opponents in the tournament. Alexandrova ousted Russian rising star Mirra Andreeva 6-3 6-2 and Jessica Pegula 6-0 6-4 in back-to-back matches to reach her second clay-court semifinals. Alexandrova improved her 2025 record on clay to 6-1 and 172-105 overall.
