The 21-year-old Russian stands out as a top contender in this tournament because of her growing reputation as one of the hottest young players in the tour. Zhao, meanwhile, defeated Jang Ga-eul 6-4, 6-2 and Park So-hyun 7-6, 6-4, 4-1 ret. to progress into the main draw of the Korean Open. Born in China but now representing Canada, Zhao will have to play her best game to beat the heavily-favorite Shnaider who owns a 68 percent win rate in hard court matches this 2024.
