The Detroit Tigers (30-30 SU, 27-33 ATS) look to pick up the series win against the Texas Rangers (29-31 SU, 26-34 ATS) after claiming the first game in a low-scoring manner. Detroit has mostly been a light-hitting that strikes out far too often. The Tigers do lead the majors in triples, but that has more to do with how their park plays than their own hitting prowess.
On the other hand, starter Jack Flaherty has experienced a career renaissance in Michigan. Last year, he moved to Baltimore to try to help the Orioles in their postseason run but got blown up for a 6.75 ERA in seven starts. This season, his ERA is down to 3.46, his best since 2021. Even though he’s just 2-4, it’s clear he’s a much better pitcher than he was a year ago.

Texas sends out Dane Dunning, who has consistently held opponents to between three and five hits and just as consistently come out early. In his past eight starts, he has left before the sixth inning seven times. Not all of these have been pitch count related, as he came out with a 7-2 lead in Kansas City and just 79 pitches thrown after 4.2 innings.
Texas can hit, but the Rangers have been inconsistent at the plate. Either they’re lights out on the mound, or their hitters can’t do anything at the dish. Either way, the under has cashed in eight of the Rangers’ past nine games with a push.
