Such good recent memories are not shared by the visiting Tigers, who were upended in a rain-shortened 12-3 dismantling by the Minnesota Twins in their last game. Two pitchers of similar statistics but vastly different records will meet Friday, with Carson Spiers getting the nod for Cincinnati and Reese Olson for Detroit. Spiers is 2-1 on the year with a 3.13 ERA, while Olson is 2-8 with a 3.32 ERA. Spiers, along with teammate Graham Ashcraft, engaged in a post-national anthem standoff with Yankees players. Neither side budged for more than five minutes, ignoring requests from umpires to step off the field.
