Atletico San Luis and Toluca face each other in search of improving their performances in the last Liga MX Clausura tournament. Toluca was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the previous Playoffs by Chivas with an aggregate score of 1-0 between the two games.

Atletico San Luis could not even qualify for the play-in, and was 8 points away from the last position that gave them a qualification.

In this new tournament both teams started on the right foot, although there is room for improvement, Toluca is 6th and San Luis 7th, however Toluca has one less game.

The participation of the Mexican teams in the Leagues Cup was somewhat disappointing, none reached the semifinals, however Toluca was one of the 4 Mexican teams that fell in the quarterfinals.

Toluca won its Leagues Cup group, then left Houston Dynamo on penalties but lost in the next round 1-2 against Colorado Rapids. Perhaps that was the most frustrating defeat for Toluca this season as they shot 19 times, 7 on target, and the Colorado Rapids scored 2 goals on the only two shots on goal they had.
