Alexander Zverev will try to extend his quarterfinal streak on Wednesday as he squares it off with ATP veteran David Goffin in the fourth round of the 2024 Shanghai Masters. Zverev has never missed the quarterfinal round in his last five tournaments. The last time he came up short of reaching the final eight was at the 2024 Wimbledon Open, where he lost to Taylor Fritz 4-6 6-7(4) 6-4 7-6(3) 6-3 in the fourth round. The German has just survived a tough third-round clash with Tallon Griekspoor 7-6(6) 2-6 7-6(5). Zverev, who scored 60 points on his first serves, relied on his experience and clutch shot-making ability to put away Griekspoor in the third set tiebreaker. Goffin is still a force to be reckoned at 33. He proved just that when he outdueled Marcos Giron 1-6 6-3 7-5 for his second straight win in three sets. The Belgian won 71 percent of his first serves and converted 3 out of 9 breakpoints to seal the victory.
