Saturday’s Western Conference matchup was a lopsided one, with Seattle winning by over 20 points. It has been historically difficult for teams to overcome massive favorite spreads, but Seattle bucked that trend as 11-point favorites. Dallas fell to 4-14 on the year and will probably be already writing themselves off potential playoff brackets at such a low position. While the 1st and 4th quarters were competitive in their last outing, it was the two middle frames that really did them in. Dallas was outscored 52-34 combined in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, mainly due to the play of Seattle’s Arike Ogunbowale, who dropped 24 points. The Wings’ failure to defend the paint without fouling, along with a costly amount of turnovers, were also their undoing.
