It’s been quite a season! After 17 rounds of regular season matchups, the play in round, the quarterfinals and semifinals, finally the most important moment in Mexican soccer has arrived: the Clausura final. This matchup, months in the making, will feature the Cruz Azul machine against the Club América Eagles, the first leg of which will take place at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium, formerly known as the Estadio Azul. The present-day edition has echoes of the past, considering that the second leg of the final will once again take place on May 26, as in 2013 when the Eagles won the title, or that the first and second legs will be played in the same stadiums (Estadio Azul first, Estadio Azteca second) as was also the case back then. It’s anyone’s guess whether an old face-off from eleven years ago would have any impact on these results, but nevertheless, these two matches are sure to be a battle royale between Liga MX’s two top teams.
