Coco Gauff of the United States shoots for a spot in the round of 16 as she takes on former top-5 player Maria Sakkari of Greece in the second round of the 2025 Miami Open.
Gauff posted her most dominant win this year, pulling off a double bagel win over Sofia Kenin 6-0, 6-0 in the second round. Gauff, who has come up short in major tournaments this year, vented all her frustration on Kenin, holding all her serves and facing only one break point.
On the flipside, Sakkari had to go through the eye of a needle to earn her place in the third round. The former world’s No.3 defeated Lucia Bronzetti of Italy 6-3 5-7 6-4 in a match, where she recorded 10 aces and won 44 points off her first serves.
