Bencic rallied from a 5-2 deficit as Osaka struggled to move around the court because of the discomfort in her abdomen. Bencic completed the comeback by winning the first set tiebreaker, which prompted a visibly disappointed Osaka to withdraw from the match. Osaka had also withdrawn from her match with Carla Tauson of Denmark in the final of the 2025 ASB Classic.
