The South Carolina Gamecocks will try to make it back-to-back national championships when they face the Connecticut Huskies in the NCAAW National Championship game Sunday afternoon at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL. Tipoff for this SEC-Big East battle is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST with coverage via ABC/ESPN/ESPN+.
Both teams earned their spot in the title game in impressive fashion. South Carolina beat Texas 74-57, their third win over the Longhorns this season. Texas gave them a good fight in the first half, but trailed by three at the break, 38-35. But with a dominant 20-9 performance in the third quarter, the Gamecocks took control of the game. Texas made the final score look better than it looked with some garbage points down the stretch. UConn’s win was much more dominant as they led 23-13 after the first. But unlike South Carolina, they didn’t take their foot off the gas at all. They led 42-22 at the break, 60-37 after three, and a record-setting 85-51 in the end.
Unlike their Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games, Paige Bueckers did not lead the way (she scored 16). Sarah Strong took the lead with 22 points, followed by Azi Fudd with 19 points.

Our Connecticut Huskies vs South Carolina Gamecocks Prediction
This is a tough one. UConn has been pretty dominant throughout the Tournament and proved against UCLA that they do not have to lean on Paige Bueckers to win. They have the No. 1 scoring defense in the country (52 ppg allowed) and the No. 9 offense (81.7 ppg). But this will be South Carolina’s fourth national championship game in a row. There is something to be said for postseason/championship experience. However, is it enough to overcome a UConn team playing as well as they are?
No. No, it’s not.
Our UConn vs. South Carolina Pick: Huskies -6.5
