The Colorado Avalanche will try to avoid a third straight loss on Saturday as they go head-to-head with the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. Colorado have lost three of their last four games, including back-to-back setbacks to the Minnesota Wild 3-1 and Winnipeg Jets 3-2 OT. Nathan McKinnon, the leading scorer for the Avalanche with 75 points this season, opened up the scoring after a scoreless first period with his 19th goal of the season at the 6:09 mark of the second frame. The Avalanche conceded two goals but leveled the score at 2-2 with a goal from Cale Maker, sending the game to overtime. Unfortunately for Colorado, they squandered an opportunity to defend home court as Neal Pionk slotted in the game-winner at 0:17 of OT. The Bruins have gone 3-2 in their last five games to improve to 24-20-6, fourth in the Atlantic Division. Boston flexed their defensive muscle in their recent home win over the Ottawa Senators, blanking the visitors for the entire 45 minutes of the match. David Pastrnak scored his 23rd goal of the season to double his team lead in the third period.
