Although the Guardian's 3.92 ERA this month still looks formidable when compared to that of the other teams, their pitching numbers in July remain Cleveland's pitching staff's lowest point so far this season. Despite splitting their last 10 games, the Tigers have compiled a better record in July at 14-9. Detroit has batted .246 with 114 runs and pitched a 3.91 ERA through 23 games this month. Still, the Tigers need to win more games in order to contend for at a wild card slot in the American league.
