The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox will open their three-game series at Comerica Park on Friday aiming to regain their winning form after losing in their previous games.
The Tigers dropped to 2-4 after losing the series finale with the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. After scoring 13 runs between Game 1 and 2, Detroit could only muster two runs in Game 3 as Mariners starter Luis Castillo outdueled their ace Tarik Skubal by giving up 2 earned runs in 7 innings. A Trey Sweeney solo homer and a run-driving play from Riley Allan Greene in the 5th inning moved the Tigers within one run from tying the game, but failed miserably to come up with a potential game-winning hit through the next four innings.
The White Sox have lost the last two games of their series vs. the Minnesota Twins after posting a 9-0 rout in Game 1. Chicago scored a total of four runs between the last two games, sending their batting average down to .214 with 23 runs this season. They also rank 24th in ERA (2.83) and 25th in WHIP (1.06).
