The Central Michigan Chippewas (1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS) visit the Florida International Panthers (0-1 SU, 0-1 ATS), marking a return game from 2021. That Central Michigan team was one of the best the Chippewas have featured, winning nine games and the Sun Bowl. Since then, Central Michigan has struggled to return to those heights, missing a bowl in consecutive seasons.
Florida International hasn’t seen a bowl game yet under Mike MacIntyre, last qualifying for postseason play in 2019. The Panthers couldn’t get much going against Indiana in their opener, falling behind early and never really threatening the Hoosiers. Florida International does have a solid passer in Keyone Jenkins, but he’s got to make decisions quicker behind the Panthers’ offensive line.

Myles Bailey didn’t touch the ball much against Central Connecticut State because he didn’t have to. That game was more about establishing Joe Labas and the Chippewas’ passing attack. Central Michigan’s biggest weakness the past two years has been its pass attack, and Labas showed himself a big upgrade over what Central has had the past two years.
But in this game, Bailey should be able to touch the ball early and often, as FIU’s run defense looked pretty poor against Indiana. The Panthers were able to get into the Hoosiers’ backfield with their pass rush, but Indiana’s ground game ran all over FIU. Unless Central coach Jim McElwain decides he has to see more from Labas before the MAC schedule begins, Bailey should get most of the work. If he does, that gives Central a big edge. Our prediction for Central Michigan vs. Florida International is Central Michigan -5.5.
