The Balaidos opens its doors on Thursday evening to witness a duel between two teams not in the same league: Celta Vigo and Atlético Madrid. A title contender, Diego Simeone's side are once again disappointing their fans. Despite the undeniable talent present in this squad, a consistent inconsistency has been present in La Liga for years, preventing players like Antoine Griezmann from lifting the trophy at the end of the season. Why do we say this? After three consecutive wins in all competitions, including an XXL performance against Valencia (3-0), Los Colchoneros collapsed at Rayo Vallecano, taking just one point from their 90 minutes. When the aim is to hold off the Real Madrid - FC Barcelona duo, this kind of result is unacceptable for the red and white club. No slip-ups will be tolerated on this trip, which on paper looks a very manageable affair. 

The home side's confidence level is quite low. Just one win in 360 minutes, and a defense that still hasn't found a formula to defend properly. Claudio Giraldez's men have conceded a staggering eleven goals in that time, so it's hard to start a new day with much confidence. The Celeste's hope lies in the results they have achieved at home since the start of the season: three wins in a row, with a different look to the one they presented away from home. Madrid have been warned to be wary of Celta when they play in front of their home fans!
