The Australian Open Grand Slam kicks off this week in Melbourne, and the first round features top 10 Norwegian Casper Ruud and Spaniard Jaume Munar. Casper Ruud begins his season in this tournament as the number 6 seed. Having concluded his previous season with victories over Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev in the group stages of the ATP Finals, the Norwegian eventually lost to Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals. Having enjoyed an excellent season, Casper Ruud should have no difficulty in winning his duel with the Spaniard.

Jaume Munar, meanwhile, headed for the Hong Kong tournament last week to kick off his 2025 season. He got off to a great start this year with 3 wins over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, then number 5 seed Nuno Borges and finally number 2 seed Lorenzo Musetti, ranked 16th in the world. A semi-finalist, he finally lost to France's Alexandre Muller in a 3-set match. Competing in this Grand Slam for the 7th time in his career, the Spaniard has only managed to progress beyond the first round on 2 occasions and is unlikely to do so a third time this year.
