Casper Ruud of Norway guns for his second quarterfinal stint this year on Tuesday, taking on Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina in the round-of-16 of the 2025 Miami Open.
Ruud moved on to the fourth round with a 6-4 7-6(4) win over No.30 seed Alejandro Tabilo. A finalist at this tournament in 2022, Ruud held serves throughout while showcasing the mental toughness to deliver the clutch points in the critical moments of both sets. Ruud has now made it to the round of 16 of the Miami Open three times in his career, having also reached the fourth-round last year.
After a quarterfinal stint at Indian Wells, Cerundolo continued his fine play in the second half of the Sunshine Open. The Argentine moved a one away from his second straight ATP 1000 quarterfinal after beating Tommy Paul of the United States 6-2 7-6(4). Cerundolo, who is 15-6 this season, collected 28 points from his first serves while breaking Paul five times, including three in an action-packed second set.
