Bonzi had to through the eye of a needle to reach this stage of the tourney. After beating Marc-Andre Huesler 6-1 7-6(4) and Manuel Guinard 6-2 6-3 in the qualifying phase, the French has sustained his strong form, topping Roberto Bautista Agut 7-6(3) 6-3, Casper Ruud 6-4 6-4, and Quentin Halys 6-3 7-6(1). In the semifinal round, Bonzi rallied from a set down to post a 4-6 6-0 7-5 victory of the up-and-coming Alex Michelsen.
