Primed for a meteoric rise this year on the ATP Tour, Alex Michelsen of the United States gears up for a testy first-round challenge as he faces former top-10 player Cameron Norrie of Great Britain at the 2025 Dallas Open on Monday. Michelsen attempts to build on his first Grand Slam round-of-16 appearance at the 2025 Australian Open by putting himself in a position to contend for the Dallas Open, an ATP-500 event. The young American became an overnight sensation after stunning former Australian Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5 6-3 2-6 6-4 in the first round. He went on to win three more matches before he got schooled by Alex De Minaur 6-0 7-6(5) 6-3. He also helped the United State advance to the next stage of the Davis Cup qualification by sweeping Tung Lin Wu of Chinese Taipei 7-6(4) 6-3. Norrie has lost his last three matches, the last one against Matteo Berrettini 6-7(4) 6-4 6-1 6-3 in the first round of the Australian Open. Norrie, who once peaked at world’s No.8, last won an ATP title at the 2023 Rio Open, beating Carlos Alcaraz 5–7, 6–4, 7–5 in the final.
