The Sixers had all three of their stars playing together against the reigning champions in the continuation of what has been a losing season so far. The Sixers are hoping the All-Star break will mark a turning point, but in their first game back from the break with the rare combination of George, Embiid and Maxey, it didn't work out and they lost at Wells Fargo Center by 20 points to the Celtics, in a game where the visiting team had a 29-point Biggest lead and the handicap on the champions was just -6.5.
For a team that seemed built to compete for the title at the start of the season, doubts are growing as to whether they can even sneak into the playoffs. Of course, having given up 24 three-pointers to the Celtics and having shot 20% from long range is not encouraging. However, back in Philadelphia when they host a Nets team with the same 20-35 record as them, the Sixers will be favored by as many as 10 points, but with an ATS record of 20-35-0 this season as well.
The rebuilding Nets also picked up their first post-All-Star Game loss. However, it was a budgeted one against the overwhelming Cavs and the Nets have won 6 of their last 10.
