Big-serving Brandon Nakashima of the United States takes on veteran Roberto Carballes of Spain in an action-packed second-round slugfest at the 2025 Miami Open on Friday.
Nakashima aims to build on her round-of-16 stint at the Indian Wells Open, the first ATP 1000 tournament of the year. The American posted two straight sets win over Rinky Hijakata 7-5 6-1 and Matteo Arnaldi 6-2 6-4 before running out of steam against Ben Shelton 7-6(6) 6-1 in the fourth round of that tourney.
Meanwhile, Carballes Baena finally made it into the second round with a 6-3 3-6 7-6(5) win over Christopher O’Connell of Australia in their rematch on Thursday. Our Brandon Nakashima vs Roberto Carballes Baena Prediction
Brandon Nakashima is 7-3 in his last 10 matches and cleared the first round in his last three tournaments. Carballes Baena needed a rematch with O’Connell, their second duel in two weeks, to end a streak of five consecutive first-round exits. The American had a bad habit of getting complacent when playing against lowly opponents. However, It seems Nakashima has already taken care of that tendency as he has imposed on his last three first-round foes, beating them all in straight sets. Our betting prediction for Brandon Nakashima vs. Roberto Carballes Baena: Brandon Nakashima 2-0.
