However, I'd argue that there's probably not as much between the pair as either the rankigns or the current disparity in odds suggests. Let's face it, both are top-100 players without being anywhere near top, top players, so it's not as if there's a huge difference in ability here. Moreover, I'd argue that McDonald's recent efforts have been a little better than Nakashima's. I liked the way he beat Harris Hijikata at Newport last week, which wasn't his first win against a higher-ranked player in recent times.
We also must consider the fact that McDonald has won each of his last three matches against Nakashima, which really could give him a greater mental edge than the early odds suggest.
