Less than 2h30 were enough for the Dutchman to end the Spaniard's hopes of a 3rd Grand Slam in the same season. For his part, Jack Draper, seeded 25th, won his first round match in just 1h10 after his opponent Zhizhen Zhang retired in the 3rd set, with the Englishman leading 6-3, 6-0, 4-0. He then went on to win his second round match without dropping a set against Argentina's Facundo Diaz Acosta. These victories are eagerly awaited by the Englishman, who did rather well at the Cincinnati tournament two weeks ago, eliminating Stefanos Tsitsipas and then Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the quarter-finals against Holger Rune.
