Van De Zandschulp pulled off the biggest upset on Saturday, shocking the tennis world with a 6-2 3-6 6-1 win over the 24-time Grand Slam champion in the second round. The Dutch, who also eliminated Nick Kyrgios 7-6(7) 3-0 ret. in the first round, won 35 points off his first serves and earned five breakpoint conversions, two of which he scored in a dominant third set flurry that completely caught Djokovic off guard. Cerundolo punched his ticket to the round of 32 with a 4-6 7-6(3) 6-1 victory over Mackenzie McDonald of the United States. The Argentina clawed his way back from a set down by outlasting McDonald in a back-and-forth second set and then totally dismantled the American in the deciding set by capturing three service breaks.
