The Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics will square it off in a rematch of last year’s NBA championship series on Saturday at American Airlines Center. Winning games has been difficult for the defending Western Conference champion since losing Luka Doncic to a left-calf injury on Christmas Day. The Mavs have gone 10-5 without their superstar player, dropping them outside the top-6 with a 24-21 record. The Mavs salvaged a big fish in their last game, upsetting West’s No.1 team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, 121-115, on January 23. The Celtics have been subpar this January, winning seven of their 12 games this month. To things worse, Boston absorbed a humiliating loss at the hands of their archrival Los Angeles Lakers, 117-96, in their last game. Kristaps Porzingis tallied 22 points and 7 boards, while All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had underwhelming output, contributing 16 and 17 points, respectively.
