Thursday will see the start of the Mountain West quarterfinals and one of these games will feature a matchup between the 5th-seeded Boise State Broncos and the 4th-seeded San Diego State Aztecs. Let's take a look at the match statistics and predictions for what could be a crucial game between the Broncos and Aztecs.

Boise State enters this game with an overall record of 22-9 and they finished 14-6 in the Mountain West. Because of where the Broncos finished in the Mountain West, this will be their first game in the Mountain West tournament. Thursday's game is pretty much a do-or-die situation for the Broncos as they are listed as part of the “First Four Out”. A loss would effectively end their hopes of making the NCAA tournament, while a win would move them closer to earning an at-large bid. The Broncos most recent game was an 83-73 loss to the Colorado State Rams.    

San Diego State enters this game with a record of 21-8, also finishing 14-6 in the Mountain West. Like Boise State, San Diego State also earned themselves a first-round bye. The Aztecs' NCAA tournament chances look to be much better compared to Boise State's, seeing that Joe Lunardi has the Aztecs in the “Last Four Byes” category. 

This means they would avoid having to play in the “First Four” games early next week and a win Thursday would further solidify their position. San Diego State most recently beat Nevada in their final game of the regular season, winning 80-61 this past Saturday.
