Ben Shelton of the United States looks to smash his way to a second final appearance on the ATP Tour this year, as he dukes it out with fellow ATP rising star Arthur Fils of France on Saturday in the semifinal of the 2024 Swiss Indoors Basel. Shelton booked his fifth semifinal appearance on the ATP Tour this 2024 after outgunning No.1 seed Alexandre Rublev 7-5 6-7(3) 6-4. The American scored 53 winners, including 13 aces, and seized two important breakpoints: the first one gave him the first set, and the second breakpoint put him ahead, 5-4, in the third set. Fils, meanwhile, has remained scatheless after three rounds. The Frenchman downed No.3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece 7-6(5) 6-3 behind a terrific performance that saw him winning 88 percent of his first serves and landing 10 aces. Fils is targeting to add a fourth trophy next to the three titles he won this year: Hamburg, Bordeaux, and Tokyo Open.
