Coco Gauff of the United States will go head-to-head with Belinda Bencic of Switzerland for the third time this year in Monday's fourth round of the 2025 Mutua Madrid Open.
Gauff recovered from a slow start to demolish compatriot Ann Li in the third round of the 2025 Madrid Open. After scoring a come-from-behind win over Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine 0-6 6-2 7-5, the world’s No.4 trailed 0-2 after her first service in the match resulted in a service break. However, Gauff remained composed and began to play her game, pummeling Li in straight sets 6-2 6-3.
Bencic also comes off a hard-earned win over Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil 6-3 4-6 7-6(2). Bencic, who fended off Clara Tauson 7-5, 7-5 in the previous round, engaged in another grueling duel with Haddad Maia but again showed incredible mental fortitude to score the most crucial points in pressure-packed situations late in the match. With the victory, Bencic improved her clay-court record to 3-1 this year.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel Bencic will come up with another win over Gauff for the second time this year. Bencic is enjoying a career resurgence this year after playing just 10 games in 2024.
