Paula Badosa will try to clinch her second semifinal stint in the Asian stop of the WTA Tour as she goes up against Beatriz Haddad Maia in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 Ningbo Open. Badosa, the former world’s No.2, continues her resurgence this season following an injury-marred campaign in 2023. The Spaniard rolled into the quarterfinal round after squashing the upset bid by Xiyu Wang 6-7 (4) 6-1 6-2. Badosa collected 102 points in the three-set match, 43 of which were winners. She also converted 8 out of 11 breakpoint opportunities, asserting her dominance in the second and third set. Maia is also fresh off a hard-fought second round match with Great Britain Katie Boulter 7-6 (2) 7-5. The Brazilian won 76 percent of her first serves and unleashed 39 winners. She also earned two important breakpoints, including the one that broke a 5-5 tie in the 11th game and set her up for a win.

Our Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Paula Badosa Prediction
Maia and Badosa engaged in two competitive duels last year that resulted in a 1-1 tie. Maia had won the first encounter 7-6 (5) 7-5 at the 2023 Adelaide International before Badosa leveled their series with a 7-6 (6) 6-3 at 2023 Qatar Open. With both women playing exceptionally well this year, picking the winner in this match won’t be an easy task. However, Badosa, 25-10 in hardcourt matches in 2024, will enter the match with momentum fresh off a semifinal appearance at the China Open. Our betting prediction for Paula Badosa vs. Beatriz Hadad Maia: Pick Badosa to cover -3.5 games, -125, at BetMGM.
